Nubra Valley is about 150 km north of Leh, the capital town of Ladakh, India. Nubra Valley Known as Ldumra (the valley of flowers). The Shyok River meets the Nubra or Siachan River to form a large valley that separates the Ladakh and the Karakoram Ranges. The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. The common way to access this valley is to travel over the Khardung La from Leh.

Diskit, set amongst the rising Himalayas and providing the majestic view of the Leh valley, is a nirvana for nature lovers. Basically the administrative center of the Nubra Valley, it is developed on the edge of a desert on the Shyok-side valley. Pleasant and cool environment, unique smell of smoky kitchens, goats, chang (local brew) and butter tea form the identity of this resting place.
You can walk to the Ensa Gompa that is over 250 years old monestry. It takes around six hours to reach the hill on which it is located. It is worth visiting for the extraordinary Buddhist murals or rock engravings. The Samtanling Gompa is another famous Buddhist religious place, located at the Sumur Village.
You can find out unique collection of idols, frescos and tangkhas (painted and embroidered scrolls) here. You will definitely be overwhelmed to see the Bactarian Camels (Shaggy double hump Camel) around sand dunes Hot Water Sulphur Springs is located in the village of Panamik, the springs are believed to have medicinal qualities that can cure several diseases.
The route from Leh takes the traveler over the Khardung-la, the highest motorable road in the world. The line of the road is different from that of the old pony-trail – longer and actually higher (18,300 feet / 5,578 m). The view from the top of the pass is amazing.

By Air: The nearest airport is Leh, at a distance of 134 kms from Nubra Valley. Leh is connected to 2 other Indian cities.
By Rail: Nubra Valley does not have a train station, and the nearest station is Jammu, at a distance of 370 kms from Nubra Valley.
By Road: There are regular buses run by the Jammu and Kashmir State Transport Corporation to cover the distance of 150 km from Leh to Diskit, The roads are maintained by the army and sudden changes in the weather are common.
